I like my drawings so far. They look good at the size they are now, but what about when I make them bigger. I'm thinking that the detail will need to be amped up. I want to play around with a projector and see what happens when they get big.. redraw them at a the larger size...maybe scan them into the computer first?
....should I work more from life and get models to stand in as these figures?
I'm also trying to think how the whole piece is going to come together. The angels are important, the main figures but I want to have other imagery integrated into the whole. maybe computer is the next step cause it would be a quick and easy way to combine images and play with scale.
I've found it to be true for things that I've enlarged in a similar way, that redrawing them instead of purely tracing them is vital if you want to maintain the quality of a drawing rather than just something that has been enlarged. Of course using a projector to get your bearings and quickly get a scaled sketch in place makes life easier, but don't focus on copying exactly from your small drawing. Stuff tends to change in astounding ways when it is scaled that much.
ReplyDeleteBut, of course I'm sure you already knew this.
