Starts to be a series of doors... there's a metaphor in that...
The Bike Shrines might be an easier place to start. They really are abandoned and not going anywhere. And i really like the idea of personifying them and creating a memorial.

Still taking pictures of shoes... its interesting to find them in clusters... i still don't fully understand why people do this.

I found myself getting really interested in No Parking signs for some reason.

Here are more Home tags.

and some other graffiti...

"I hate yo-yos because mine doesn't work."

I really like the idea of the bike shrine (or I guess it could be a car too). I think some people at least get very connected to the vehicles they use to get them through life, and it seems justifiable to want to commemorate their departure in a meaningful and dignified way. I don't know how you'd go about it... or how to get it to connect with people emotionally, which seems like a crucial element. But it seems worth exploring more fully.
ReplyDeleteyeah, i guess thats where i'm hung up. If i'm to use the bike to represent a human life (death) what kind of person am I representing and what did they die from? A logical connection would be bike accident victims or something but there's already a thing "ghost bike," a white bike showing up where a person died from an accident. http://ghostbikes.org/ ...but this is another good reference for my paper...and the ride of silence is on my birthday!
